‘Ayurveda’ is a combination of two words – ‘Ayus’ and ‘Veda’. Ayus means Life and Veda means the Shastra or the Knowledge. Hence Ayurveda in simple terms can be explained as ‘The Knowledge Of Life’. It teaches us about how to maintain the good health of those who are healthy so that they are well protected from any disorder or illness and how to treat the illness of those who are ill, thereby giving longevity.
Ayurveda is an ancient health system that looks at al aspects of your life, health status and nutrition to discover ways to promote balance, inner radiance and outward beauty. As the age advances all the different cells and tissues of the body undergoes different changes. In these conditions it’s necessary to maintain and rejuvenate the body systems for a better harmony of the Body, Mind and Soul and also improve your immunity.
Our daily routines, activities, food habits, climatic changes etc., can cause the accumulation of the toxins inside the body which vitiates the Doshas and leads to its imbalance thereby resulting in ailments.
Ayurveda explains that health is a balance of the three Doshas or the forces namely ‘Vata, Pitta and Kapha’ of every individual. When there is an imbalance in these three diseases are said to occur in any form or combination. Therefore the aim of Ayurveda is to identify the causes of the imbalance and restore the balance of the Doshas, for which the treatment is achieved in the following ways: |

In these conditions purification of the body is done to completely eliminate the vitiated Doshas and toxins from the system. This treatment consists of five purificatory therapies and is hence called as ‘Panchakarma’. This consists of Vamana (emesis/vomiting), Virechana (purgation), Basti (medicated enema with oil or decoction), Nasya (nasal drops) and Raktamokshana (bloodletting).
